Hungarian Danube port Győr-Gönyű will complete the infrastructure development until June 2016. Under a HUF 7.9 billion (EUR 24.9 million) investment, the port is implementing works for new ship berths and a direct railway-waterway transport link, Ákos Kara, ministerial commissioner for the investment state secretary of the National Development Ministry said.
HUF 5.8 billion (EUR 18.3 million) of the investment costs will be covered through European Union and national funding.
According to Kara the government had declared the investment of strategic importance. Preparations for the projected started in 2013 and the contractor consortium took over the area in August.
