Optical connectivity company Huber + Suhner has introduced a five port antenna for railway use. The Sencity Rail MIMO offers five antenna elements in one housing. The technology allows railway cars to be fitted out with Wifi and LTE/4G networks.
Under the five-port system, two antenna elements are connected to a cellular 2×2 MIMO modem while two serve as additional Wi-Fi connecters. Connections can be made directly with a Wi-Fi radio without using an EF diplexer to split the 2 different signals from a broadband antenna, according to the company. The antenna supports a frequency range from 698 MHz to 6 GHz for all mobile communication networks worldwide.
