The project to build high-speed line Beijing-Astana-Moscow is now being discussed at a high level, Kazakhstan First Deputy Prime Minister Bakhytzhan Sagintayev said.
He noted that on the instructions of the Head of State, the Eurasian transcontinental multimodal corridor will be created, it will ensure the unimpeded transit from Asia to Europe.
”The corridor will be held in two directions: through the territory of Kazakhstan, Russia and further to Europe, via Kazakhstan from Khorgos to the port of Aktau and further through the Caspian Sea to Azerbaijan and then the path will move through Georgia.
“Within this framework, the President tasked to build a new high-speed narrow-gauge railway on the whole territory of our country to the Aktau sea port. It is expected that within ten years the volume of trade between China and the countries located along the Silk Road will increase to 2.5 trillion US dollars as a result of the implementation of this important project, ” the first vice-premier of Kazakhstan said.
