GE Transportation has signed a long-term service agreement with Ferromex, Mexico’s largest rail operator. This service agreement will leverage GE’s digital expertise to monitor 100 Evolution Series locomotives for Ferromex, providing 24×7 data on the health status and performance of each locomotive.
The agreement also includes access to GE Transportation’s Smart Shopping suite, which runs over 200 diagnostics and predictive algorithms to diagnose maintenance needs of a locomotive before it enters the shop. With Smart Shopping, railroads can schedule stops more efficiently – from maintenance planning to shop scheduling and materials management, as well as reduce dwell time up to 40%.
“Mexico’s rail industry is vital to the livelihood of our nation, and it’s very important for us to work with critical partners to ensure our assets are running as reliably and efficiently as possible,” said Ferromex.
