In the first half of 2015 Freight One carried 589 thou tons of non-ferrous metals, 71% up YoY. Freight turnover in this segment grew 79%, reaching 2.4 bln-tkm. Freight One’s share in the total volume of non-ferrous metals traffic on the Russian Railways network increased from 13% to 21%.
The positive dynamics was backed by increased volumes under the service contract with UC RUSAL to ensure the producer’s needs in finished products export from the company’s Russian aluminum smelters, as well as by the rising demand for non-ferrous metals in Russia and abroad.
The finished products were carried in gondolas from stations of the East Siberian, the Krasnoyarsk, the West Siberian, the Sverdlovsk, and the Privolzhskaya Railways to the consignees in Russia, as well as through the ports of the Oktyabrskaya and the North Caucasus Railways for export in Europe, America, and Turkey.
