By the end of the year, Attiko Metro will announce the shortlist of selected contractors that will have to submit their technical and financial offer for the Alsos Veikou – Goudi section (“A”section – 13 km).
“The management of Attiko Metro welcomes the interest and participation of construction companies from Greece and abroad, as the completion of the project will contribute to the improvement of the quality of life and the services provided to the citizens of Attica,” Attiko Metro says.
Athens’ metro Line 4 project involves the construction of 14 stations and a 13 km line between Alsos Veikou and Goudi, linking the densely populated neighbourhoods of central Athens such as Zografou, Kesariani, Kolonaki, Exarhia, Kypseli and Galatsi.
The construction should be launched in 2019 and will take 8 years to be completed. It is estimated that the section will serve approximately 220,000 passengers on a daily basis.
In the future, the line will be extended to Ano Ilioipoli (in South), to Maroussi (to the North), to Ethniki Odos (an extension from Maroussi), and to Perissos (to the North-West). The U-shaped Line 4 consists of two radial legs to Galatsi and Maroussi, as well as of one central part that runs through the center of Athens. When the whole project, with its extensions, will be completed, the total length of the line will be 33.5 km with 30 stations.
