Società Italiana per Condotte d’Acqua S.p.A. (Condotte) has been awarded the first out of five large EPC contracts for the Follo Line Project, currently the largest infrastructure project in Norway. This drill & blast contract covers all excavation by mainly drill & blast techniques. This mega project, starting from Norway´s capital, is executed by the Norwegian National Rail Administration (NNRA) on behalf of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
The offers from the prequalified tenderers have been thoroughly evaluated, and a decision was made based on a technical and economic comparison. The approx. 1.2 billion NOK (EUR 140 mln) contract is scheduled to be signed by the end of February. The main works will commence as soon as possible.
A three track tunnel is to be built combining the inbound Østfold line, the inbound Follo Line and the outbound Follo Line. The new double track line will be crossing existing tunnels and infrastructure. The contract comprises the construction of the twin tube Follo Line tunnel between the exit of the three track tunnel and 1,2 km into the mountain/hillside, including the cross passages between the tunnels – and the crossing of Ekeberg Oil Depot and re-routing of a river in tunnel.
