First section of TAT rail corridor commissioned

tat-teren_stroitelstvozhdtadzhikistan-turkmenistan-afganistanvseeshchepodvoprosom_0The first section of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan (TAT) – [Atamyrat-Imamnazar-Akina (Afghanistan)]  railway has been commissioned on November 28.
An 85-kilometer rail line has been constructed in Turkmenistan in the first stage of the project.
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said the new rail line will contribute to development of economic cooperation between the neighboring countries and facilitate the supply of goods to Azerbaijan, China, India, countries of Europe and other regions.
New rail and road bridges will also be opened across the Amu Darya River in the coming days.

Tejan-Sarakhs-Mashhad (300 kilometers), Turkmenabat-Atamyrat (215 kilometers), Ashgabat-Karakum-Dashoguz (530 kilometers) railways, more than 40 new railway bridges, including two bridges through the Amu Darya river, the largest one in Central Asia, were also built within the railway transport development program’s implementation.
