213 units trains will be refurbished and be put into operation on the Llobregat-Anoia for Catalan government railways, FGC. The overhaul will include new upholstery, modifications to interior lighting, a facelift for toilets and improved vinyls both inside and out. There are a total of 42 units and these will be refurbished gradually from now on, as part of the FGC maintenance programme.
These steps are being taken in response to the results of the last customer satisfaction index, which showed a contrast effect with the entry into service of the new 113 series units on the Barcelona-Vallès line.
FGC will run a pilot test in September with a new service enabling users to practise English conversation on R5 and R6 on the Llobregat-Anoia line, the longest journeys.
