The European Union is providing EUR 96 million for three railway infrastructure projects in Serbia, Albania and Kosovo, EU commissioner Johannes Hahn said.
The investments demonstrate that the EU is serious about its commitment to make up to 1 billion euro available for connectivity investment projects by 2020.
“One of our biggest challenges for preparing the Western Balkans countries for the EU is restructuring the economic model to ensure that all countries are functioning market economies, and driven by export and investments rather than import and consumption. The progress on connectivity measures are an important element in this respect,” Johannes Hahn noted.
