EU-Rail invites the European rail freight industry, its customers and other stakeholders to openly express their interest in participating in a large-scale trial of DAC (Automatic Digital Coupling for Freight Trains, including DAC-based applications) technology in 100 pre-development trains, in line with the DAC Master Plan.
DAC technology will be a key game changer in European rail freight.
It will already be quite mature after technology validation in the ongoing EU-Rail Flagship 5 research and innovation activities (in laboratories and through demonstration trains), however, in order to implement it successfully in Europe and in line with the prerequisites for DAC deployment set by the European DAC Delivery Programme (EDDP) supported by EU-Rail, sufficient time and resources need to be allocated to successfully test this technology on a large scale.
