Because the transit flows have dropped significantly, Estonian railway infrastructure company Eesti Raudtee expects to end the current year with a loss of four million euros, said Ahti Asmann, chairman of the Board. The company’s 2015 budget has already been drafted to include a projected nine million euros loss.
If state-owned passenger railway transport company Elron paid more infrastructure fees, the financial situation of Eesti Raudtee could improve, but this solution is not viable. In order to get more financing and save money, the company is ready to reverse its restructuring and re-merge again with the cargo transport operator EVR Cargo, said Ahti Asmann.
