President of the Railway Transport Office (Urzędu Transportu Kolejowego) issued the first authorization in the history of Polish railways for the European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2 with interfaces to the signaling system ERTMS / GSM-R.
The permit was issued for the structural subsystem: Control – Track-side in terms of system ERTMS / ETCS level 2 (together with the interfaces to the signaling ERTMS / GSM-R system) installed on the Legnica – Bielawa Dolna section of the E 30 railway line, including stations Legnica, Miłkowice, Chojnów, Okmiany, Bolesławiec, Zebrzydowa, Węgliniec and Bielawa Dolna. Track-side ERTMS / ETCS level 2 is a system of automatic train control and uses data transmission via digital radio channel ERTMS / GSM-R system.
