EIB may provide EUR 1 billion for Grand Paris Express Line 15 South

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has under appraisal the project on the construction of Paris’ driverless metro Line 15 on Pont de Sèvres – Noisy Champs section in length of 33 km. The evaluation includes the construction of 16 stations and 2 maintenance depots.
The Line 15 South, part of Grand Paris project, serves 22 communities of Hauts-de-Seine, Val-de-Marne, Seine-Saint-Denis and Seine-et-Marne departments.
The total cost of the project is EUR 6.85 billion of which the proposed EIB finance is EUR 1 billion.
This is the second evaluation of the project, as EIB already provided the first tranche of loan.
The Grand Paris project, led by the Société du Grand Paris, is part of a more comprehensive project, the New Grand Paris, which includes the development and modernisation of the existing network. The extension of four metro lines prefigures the Grand Paris project by linking Paris with its neighbouring towns and enhancing the mobility between suburbs.
Under the big project, Line 14 will form the backbone of the new network, connecting with the other Grand Paris Express lines (15,16, 17 and 18), 11 lines of the Paris metro, and the 5 RER lines (A, B, C, D and E).
The project includes the extension of four metro lines, currently under construction or in the planning phase: Line 4 southwards (1.9 km); Line 11 eastwards (5.4 km); Line 12 northwards (1.7 km) and – Line 14 northwards (5.8 km).
The total cost of the global project Grand Paris Express is estimated at EUR 24.9 billion and involves the construction of new lines (15, 16, 17 and 18) as well as the extension of Line 14, on North part between   Mairie de Saint-Ouen and Saint-Denis Pleyel, and on South part, between Olympiades and Orly.
Until 2030, Grand Paris Express will have 205 km of public transport lines, with 4 metro line extensions and 4 new, fully automated metro lines.
