Eastern Poland rail modernisation co-financing signed

oficiali-polonia-uePKP Polish Railways Lines (PKP PLK) signed the co-financing agreement under the Operational Programme ‘Eastern Poland’ 2014-2020. The value of the investment is PLN 569 million (EUR 128 million), of which EU co-financing is PLN 393 million (EUR 88.4 million) and includes the modernisation and electrification of 68 and 565 railway lines, between Lublin and the Stalowa Wola-Rozwadów rail junction. The total length of railway lines included in the project is 105 km of which 2.3 km is part of the TEN-T.
The project involves the modernisation of railway lines, including the traffic control systems and passenger information systems. The project is estimated to be completed in 2020.

The scope of the projects is to better connect the big cities in Eastern Poland and the national rail network. We allotted PLN 1.25 billion (EUR 281 million) from the OP Eastern Poland to the development of railway infrastructure, roads and urban transport development,” Deputy State Secretary, Ministry of Development  Adam Hamryszczak said.
The OP Eastern Poland 2014 – 2020 funding priorities involves, among others, the reconstruction and modernisation of 504 km of railway lines.
