German state railway Deutsche Bahn has reached a deal with the airlines Cargolux, SAS and Nippon Cargo in the lawsuit against the airlines that colluded to inflate airfreight fees. The cargo unit of the German company filed the lawsuit against the airlines last year in New York, seeking a total of $370 million (335 million euros) in damages from six airlines.
The settlement reached by DB in the USA with Cargolux International Airlines SA, Scandinavian airline SAS and Nippon Cargo Airlines amount to under $100 million (90.7 million euros) in total, according to a source familiar with the matter.
“Deutsche Bahn will continue to pursue our claims against other air carriers vigorously,” said Deutsche Bahn management board member Gerd Becht.
