Deutsche Bahn could suspend railway links with Denmark

03-germaniaDeutsche Bahn threatened to suspend the railway links with neighbouring Denmark after Copenhagen authorities insisted on introducing passport control in the German trains, German “Der Spiegel” reported.
“In order to avoid for our employees to be in violation to the Danish laws, we will be forced to suspend the cross-border railway service with Denmark,” a representative of the company said, explaining that the train staff was not qualified and authorised to carry out inspections on the passengers with regard to the numerous international documents.
After Denmark introduced on 4 January 2016 a temporary reinstatement of the border control with Germany, the Danish Minister of Transport addressed his German counterpart with a letter, asking for the ID documents of the passengers crossing the border to be checked.
