Deutsche Bahn has announced plans to extend its free Wi-Fi service to regional trains from 2017 onwards. To provide consistent reception while travelling, the networks of Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone and Telefonica will be bundled into a “multi-provider system”.
Certain routes are currently running a test of the service, including the Fugger-Express between Augsburg and Munich as well the route Kiel-Lubeck-Luneburg. Deutsche Bahn previously announced plans to make free Wi-Fi available in all its long-distance second class carriages by mid-December.
