DB ESG has been awarded a contract by Northern Trains Ltd. for the supply and installation of passenger information system (PIS) and energy metering (EM) upgrades on its fleet of 16 Class 333 electric multiple units.
The project will be carried out at Northern Trains’ Skipton Sidings Facility, with DB ESG implementing an accelerated installation process that will enable each unit to be completed within three days. This approach leverages the company’s extensive experience in delivering complex turnkey projects for rail industry stakeholders, including infrastructure owners, train operators, and rolling stock leasers.
“Our team is thrilled to partner with Northern Trains on this significant project,” said Nick Goodhand, Managing Director of DB ESG. “We are committed to delivering high-quality installations efficiently and safely, leveraging our expertise to enhance the passenger experience and operational efficiency of Northern Trains’ Class 333 fleet.”
The installation will be managed by DB ESG’s Project Services Team, utilising in-house employees and contract personnel as required. The company will supply 15 ready-to-install train equipment kits, while Northern Trains will provide the kit for the first-in-class installation. Work is scheduled to begin in February 2025 and is expected to be completed by the end of June 2025.
