Czech railway infrastructure administrator Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SZDC) improved parameters on the railway line Lysá nad Labem – Ústí nad Labem. The main objective of the project was to achieve a technical state corresponding to EU parameters and standards. The construction contributed considerably to higher travelling comfort and safety for passengers as well as decreasing the noise burden in this section.
Higher transport availability was achieved, railway infrastructure capacity and railway operation quality for a prospective transport extention was assured. Another positive impact of the project is an increase of line speed and safety on railway crossings.
The project included the total replacement of the railway superstructure. The railway substructure was conserved in certain sections. Construction works on bridges and two railway crossings, as well as exchanging affected catenary poles were also carried out.
The total estimated costs amounted to CZK 309 million (11.4 million euros). The project was approved for co-financing by the European Union under the Operational Programme Transport.
