The European Commission has approved two major projects together worth EUR 55.4 million from the Cohesion Fund to upgrade railway sections in Prague and the region of Pilsen.
EUR 33.1 million is being invested in the modernisation of the railway junction in Pilsen, an important link for international traffic. Works should result in safer and faster travel on this section and should be completed in April 2017.
EUR 22.3 million is being invested in upgrading works on the Hostivař train station, an entry point to the Prague railway hub, in the southeast of the capital. Works will aim to improve accessibility for persons with reduced mobility and to renovate tracks in and around the station.
