Czech Railway Infrastructure Administration, SZDC, has improved three railway lines in the Liberec Region, in order to achieve a technical state corresponding to EU parameters and standards.
The three lines included the Stará Paka – Malá Skála and Turnov – Liberec sections on Jaroměř – Liberec line (Line 030), and Liberec – Tanvald section (Line 036).
The projects involved the adaptations of the railway superstructure and substructure, platforms, bridges, culverts, railway crossings and walls. Electrical heating of switches was adapted in order to assure higher operation safety and functionality especially during winter. Renewal of selected distribution systems and elements of safety and signalling installations was also part of the construction.
The total cost of the three projects was CZK 1.5 billion (EUR 55 million) of which CZK 1 billion (EUR 42.5 million) was a EU co-financing through the Cohesion Fund under the Operational Programme Transport. The national financing of all projects was provided by the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure.
