China Railway Rollingstock Corp (CRRC) plans to expand the operation of its rolling stock centre in Batu Gajah, Perak. The centre, which is CRRC’s manufacturing hub in South-East Asia, became fully operational in October last year.
To date, the rolling centre has the capacity to manufacture up to 200 carriages per year. The centre will focus on three operations; manufacturing, overhaul as well as service and maintenance in the near future, according to general manager Li Hong.
“We could build subway cars, LRT cars as well as high-speed rail, electric locomotive, magnetic levitation cars as well as cars for both meter gauge and standard gauge,” he added.
For the car overhaul services, the company is in the process of building a facility and expects the operation to start by year-end or early next year.
