Two Colas subsidiaries have won construction contracts as part of the extension of the tramway network in Bordeaux, France. Both contracts are for the second phase of the extension of line D, serving the northwest of the city.
Colas Rail is leading a consortium that also includes Alstom, Colas Sud‐Ouest and Fayat. The work, which has a total contract value of EUR 34m (£30m), involves the installation of track and an overhead catenary line on a 6.2km section. Colas Rail has a EUR 15m share of the project and Colas Sud‐Ouest’s share is EUR 6m.
The second contract was awarded to Colas Sud‐Ouest and involves fill, drainage and surface work for a value of EUR 19m. The work is slated to last 24 months, and the extension will be open to the public in October 2019.
Colas Rail and Colas Sud‐Ouest have already helped build the first three lines of the Bordeaux Tramway network.
