China CNR Corp is interested to deliver high-speed trains to UK, as the HS2 project is an opportunity for the company. “Our team has been following the HS2 project for a long time and is having ongoing communication with authorities in the UK,” Yu Weiping, vice-president of China CNR Corp said, China Daily reports.
CNR is to become the world’s largest maker of rolling stock by sales after the merger with its Chinese competitor, China CSR Corp Ltd. CSR established a UK subsidiary earlier in May, which will become the UK subsidiary of the two merged companies.
Recently, the UK Transport Secretary, Patrick McLoughlin confirmed that the construction is to start in 2017. Work is also well underway on developing plans for high-speed east-west rail links. For the east-west high-speed rail links, the Government has plans to invest £13 billion (EUR 17.85 billion).
