A high-speed railway linking Anqing (Anhui province) and Nanjing (Jiangsu province, east China) was put into operation on 6 December. The railway line will boost regional traffic in the booming Yangtze River Delta, according to China Railway Corporation (CRC).
The high-speed railway cuts travel time from nearly six hours to about two. The line has 257 kilometers with ten stations. Trains can run at a speed of 200 kilometers per hour in the initial stage. The project broke ground in April 2009 and started trial operations in August this year.
