China has manufactured its very first high-speed train to be exported to Europe. The train will be delivered to FYR Macedonia to be used on its busiest railway line.
Chinese train-maker CSR’s Zhuzhou branch independently researched and developed the first high-speed train qualified technically for European rails. The train is designed with a speed of 160 kilometres per hour, and equipped with an impact absorbing safety system in the event of collisions. All trains exported to Europe are required to meet technical specifications that promote inter-operability across the rail systems.
The first of six passenger trains ordered by FYR Macedonia has been completed. The trains will run on the 215-kilometer railway that links Tabanovce in northern Macedonia with Gevgelija at the country’s southern border with Greece. The track passes the capital, Skopje.
