Casa Transport, the public transport authority in Casablanca, has announced the shortlist of companies that have qualified for the tender for the delivery of light rail vehicles. Of the five rolling stock manufacturers, four are from Europe and one from the Asian continent, in China.
According to the tender, the winner will have to deliver 100 light rail vehicles for T3 and T4 lines in the Moroccan city.
The four short-listed manufacturers are Alstom, the Bombardier – CAF consortium, Škoda Transportation and CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive from China.
The winner of the tender will be announced in December 2017, with the delivery of the railway vehicles starting in the first half of 2020. All the light rail vehicles will be 32 meters long and will enter commercial operation starting 2022.
The contract will include the option to purchase an additional 20 light rail vehicles.
