McInnis Cement has received the first of 25 new railcars for cement distribution from TrinityRail. The first convoy of seven railcars recently arrived at the Gaspé railway corporation network (Société du Chemin de fer de la Gaspésie).
The railcars form a part of McInnis Cement’s distribution network. The new pressure differential cars have a capacity of 3230 ft3 and are designed to transport, load, and unload dry bulk material under tightly sealed conditions.
The second convoy of 12 railcars is expected to follow within days, while a final convoy of six railcars will complete the order and is due to arrive by mid-April. The railcars will be ready to load cement at the New Richmond transhipment site at the start of commercial operations of the cement plant.
McInnis Cement is a new entrant into the North American cement sector and is the first new cement plant to serve the eastern Canadian and New England construction markets in more than 50 years.
