Bulgaria’s National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC) has launched a tender for the construction of a 51 km railway section connecting the town of Elin Pelin, situated at some 25 km east of the capital Sofia, to the town of Kostenets, in southwestern Bulgaria. The section is part of the railway connecting Sofia to the country’s second biggest city of Plovdiv.
The estimated value of the contract is BGN 1 billion (EUR 511.2 million). The tender is divided into three lots which include the construction and modernisation of 10 tunnels and 24 bridges. The deadline for submitting offers is 5 October. The project is financed from the EU’s Operational Programme Transport 2014-2020.
