Bulgarian freight forwarding company Gopet Trans announced that it intends to invest 2 million levs (EUR 1 million) by 2016 in the development of intermodal transport in Bulgaria, connecting the country with Britain and Western Europe. The company also plans to launch an intermodal connection between Curtici (Romania) and Sofia.
“We are planning by 2020 to diversify our services by the so called green logistics – rail and intermodal transport – as well as sea and air transport,” Gopet Trans executive director Mariana Hristova said.
In 2014 Gopet Trans became the first Bulgarian operator of an intermodal block train, between Curtici and Ruse. Currently, the train runs once a week on the route Curtici – Stara Zagora – Ruse.
