A Chinese company is willing to invest more than BGN 300 million (153.5 million euros) into Bulgaria to build a locomotive factory, Prime Minister Ognyan Gerdzhikov said. The Chinese rolling stock manufacturer CRRC Corporation intends to produce locomotives and rail cars that would be sold beyond Bulgaria.
The investor is ready to cover BDZ’s debt worth hundreds of millions, and to pay off BGN 260 million (133 million euros) of it. According to Transport Minister Hristo Aleksiev, the investor is expected to send a letter of intent over the next fortnight.
