Turkey proposes new USD 800 million rail project

turcia-tren_tcdd-yht2A project to build a rail line to Cappadocia was awarded to a Turkish, Japanese and Spanish consortium for a USD 800 million budget. The project involves the construction of Ankara-Kırıkkale- Kırşehir-Nevsehir rail line and Kayseri High Speed Train unde the „build – operate – transfer” (BOT) model, as was suggested.
Scheduled for completion in 3 years, the Cappadocia Train, as the project was named, will create a North-South rail link in Turkey and will also provide an extension to Samsun. Thus, the new line will offer a route from the Black Sea to Ankara and Delice, Kirsehir, Hacıbektaş, Nevsehir and Nigde of Kayseri route or going to Adana Aksaray. Thus, for the first time, the North-South axis will be connected.
The length of the new line, from Delice to Kayseri, will be approximately 232 kilometres.
