USD 153 million will be directed by BNSF Railway Company to rail capacity improvement projects and maintenance in Missouri. BNSF’s 2015 capital projects in Missouri include constructing two new sidings between Elsberry and Ashburn and milepost marker 94 as well as extending the siding in Gibbs to improve train capacity along the Hannibal subdivision.
Rail projects in Missouri will include 1,303 miles (2,096 km) of track surfacing and undercutting work, the replacement of more than 60 miles (96.5 km) of rail and close to 184,500 ties, as well as signal upgrades for federally mandated positive train control (PTC).
