Swiss railway company BLS plans to launch a tender on further expansion of the Lötschberg Base Tunnel. The planning work will include the dual-track construction between Ferden and Mitholz and full extension of Ferden-Frutigen section. Works are estimated to start next year.
The Swiss government allocated funds to plan the completion of the railway infrastructure on Ferden – Mitholz line under the FABI scheme for financing and modernizing the railway infrastructure.
