Downer-Soletanche Bachy joint venture was awarded one of the first construction contracts for the Auckland’s City Rail Link that will provide connection between Britomart and Auckland city centre with the existing western line near Mt Eden.
The project is estimated at USD 2.5 billion and will be completed in 2024. Auckland Council expects central government to contribute 50% of the funding. The line will use twin 3.4 km long tunnels up to 42 metres below the city centre streets. The project includes the construction of three rail stations.
