According to the new development phase of the light rail transport network in the Turkish city of Antalya, Antray, a new section of 12 kilometers will be built. The line will be built on the route between Varsak Sakarya, northern Antalya and Eğitim Araştırma Hastanesi, in the south.
Works for this second section will be completed in 2019.
There will also be an interconnection with the existing light rail network linking the east-west axis of Antalya.
Long-term transport development plans in Antalya provide for the connection of the new light rail line and the existing tram line of the city. The tram line will be rebuilt to facilitate rail traffic standards, with the tram network having a double track, with an extension to the west, to Eğitim Araştırma Hastanesi district, where it would be possible to interconnect the two urban transport systems. The new tram and light rail network combined will have a length of 23 kilometers.
We remind that the latest extension of the Antray network was inaugurated in July 2016, with rail connection to the Antalya airport.
