With the new schedule, Amtrak is responding to customer feedback to provide more options for customers traveling the busy NEC.
“Acela Express has long been the preferred premium choice for travelers between Washington, New York and Boston,” Mark Yachmetz, Amtrak Vice President of NEC Business Development said.
To meet the increasing demand for high-speed rail service and provide additional capacity on the Northeast Corridor, Amtrak contracted with Alstom to produce 28 next-generation high-speed trainsets that will eventually replace the existing Acela Express equipment.
