Alstom brought to Romania the Coradia Polyvalent hybrid train that can run on both electrified and non-electrified lines. The train will be used for trial operation on CFR SA’s rail network.
The train is customized for Romania and will be presented by Alstom. The vehicle is equipped with all testing-necessary systems. Alstom delivered the train based on a contract signed with CFR SA in consortium with Alcatel Lucent Romania and Pas 97 Impex on the implementation of a new traffic management system, Atlas 200, on Sighisoara-Coslariu-Simeria section of Corridor 4. The contract stipulates the installation of Atlas 200 solution, Alstom’s solution for ERTMS Level 2 on 170 km of line.
The new signalling system will increase the train travel speed at 160 km/h.
