Alstom has confirmed that is under discussions with Siemens in connection with a possible combination of Alstom with Siemens Mobility Division. Although there is no final decision taken, the “discussions are on-going and no agreement has been reached,” Alstom said.
Alstom has recorded sales of EUR 7.3 billion and booked EUR 10 billion of orders in the 2016/17 fiscal year. The company, headquartered in France, is present in over 60 countries and employs 32,800 people. Alstom offers a complete range of solutions (from high-speed trains to metros, tramways and e-buses), passenger solutions, customised services (maintenance, modernisation), infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility solutions.
Siemens Mobility Division combines all Siemens businesses in the area of passenger and freight transport, including rail vehicles, rail automation systems, rail electrification systems, road traffic technology, IT solutions and related services. The Division provides its customers with consulting, planning, financing, construction, service and operation of turnkey mobility systems. Siemens is incorporated in Germany, with its corporate headquarters situated in Munich.
In 2016, the orders of Siemens Mobility Division reached EUR 7.87 billion and EUR 7.82 in revenues. Siemens Mobility has 27,100 employees.
