Bucharest Court of Appeal approved, on 19 September, the appeal submitted by Alstom, member of the Rail Works association, referring to the tender organised in 2015 by CFR SA for the project “Rehabilitation of Frontiera – Curtici – Simeria railway, part of the pan-European Corridor IV for the traffic of trains at a maximum speed of 160 km/h: Section 2: Km 614 – Gurasada, subsection 2c: Cap Y Ilteu – Gurasada and section 3: Gurasada-Simeria”.
Rail Works association includes Aktor SA and Arcada Company, Aktor SA being the project leader.
The subject of the appeal was the rehabilitation of subsection 2c, lot 1 Ilteu – Gurasada.
The decision of Bucharest Court of Appeal is final.
Rehabilitation works to Railway Corridor IV is a major objective of Romania for the development of the domestic railway network and for a faster and effective connection to the TEN-T European rail transport network.
Consequently, a series of other rehabilitation and modernisation works are underway on this railway corridor.
Thus, in May 2017, CFR SA signed two contracts worth RON 3.45 billion, VAT excluded, for rehabilitation works on Km 614 Barzava segment, section 2a of Radna — Simeria segment and section 2b from Bârzava to Ilteu. The constructor is an association of Astaldi — FCC — Thales Systems Romania and other sub-contractors.
The rehabilitation of sub-segment 2c, lot 1 Ilteu – Gurasada will be executed by Rail Works association. The rehabilitation of railway segment 3, Gurasada – Simeria, was attributed in June 2017 to FCC Construccion – Astaldi – Convensa association.
At the middle of February, Astaldi SPA — FCC Construccion — Salcef Construzioni Edili e Ferroviarie SPA — SC Thales Systems Romania association won the tender for the rehabilitation of sub-segment Km 614 – Cap Y Barzava (2a), located on the TEN-T 22 priority axis (pan-European Corridor IV). The financing source for the rehabilitation of subsection Km 614 – Cap Y Bârzava (2a), integrated part of section 2, Km 614 – Gurasada, is non-reimbursable and state budget funds and the total estimated cost of the contract is of around RON 1.69 billion (VAT excluded).
Also, in March, CFR SA announced the Association Astaldi SpA — FCC Construccion SA — Salcef Construzioni Edili e Ferroviarie SpA — SC Thales Systems Romania was declared winner of the public tender procedure for the rehabilitation of sub-section (2b) Barzava–Ilteu with the cost of the contract estimated at RON 1.763 billion, VAT excluded.
