Sydney’s new metro train has successfully completed high-speed testing, passing 100 km/h. The train reached a speed of up to 110 km/h between Rouse Hill and Kellyville on the elevated skytrain.
By passing its maximum operating speed, experts were also able to test its ability to stop in a safe distance.
In February, Sydney’s first metro train entered tests and will begin commercial operation in 2019, on the 36 km-long Sydney Metro Northwest line.
The trains are delivered by Alstom, under a contract for the supply of 22 six-car Metropolis trains, including and CBTC signalling for the Sydney Metro – North West, which is Australia’s first fully automated rail line.
