On 14 November, the president of United Transport and Logistics Company (UTLC), Alexei Grom, and the general manager of Forwardis, Édouard Laverny, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the organization and implementation of container rail transport on the China-Europe-China route using the railway networks of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus.
The two companies will cooperate to develop rail transit services between Europe and China, proving stable, comprehensive, regular and competitive transport services. This agreement is particularly relevant for the development of cooperation and partnership between Russian and French railway companies and for development of rail freight transport on Europe-Asia axis.
According to the document, UTLC will provide transport services on wide gauge network at Dostyk-Brest section and Forwardis will have the responsibility to offer transport services on European Union rail network.
Under the cooperation, the parties will exchange up-to-date information about transport and logistics services, will implement measures to attract additional volumes to railways in the Eurasian area using container trains and will maintain and develop joint market activities within the framework of the project.
