Bulgaria launches rehabilitation of two railway sections

Works have started for the rehabilitation of the Skutare-Orizovo and Straldzha-Tserkovski railway sections. The 26 km long Skutare-Orizovo section is part of the second phase of the project “Rehabilitation of the railway infrastructure along the railway line Plovdiv – Burgas and needed investments of 70 mil. BGN (EUR 35.7 million). Construction activities should finish by the beginning of 2019 and afterwards the trains could travel at a speed between 130 and 160 km/h. The Straldzha-Tserkovski rail section is also part of the Plovdiv – Burgas railway line. The Bulgarian authorities plan to finalize the modernization of the railway line form the Serbian border to port Burgas by 2022.
