Polish operator PKP Intercity has awarded two contracts for maintenance of second class rolling stock fleet, including 111A and 141A-type passenger coaches.
The first contract, worth PLN 312 million (EUR 73.6 million) has been awarded to a consortium of PESA Bydgoszcz / ZNTK Mińsk Mazowiecki companies for the modernisation of 83 coaches, with option for another 42 coaches.
The second contract, worth PLN 273 million (EUR 64.4 million) has been awarded to H.Cegielski – Fabryka Pojazdów Szynowych. This contract includes the maintenance of 60 railway coaches.
PKP Intercity declared that works will include the fitting of new adjustable seats, air-conditioning systems, new passenger information systems and sockets.
Between 2016 and 2020, PKP Intercity is investing around PLN 2.5 billion in its rolling stock fleet. The company plans to upgrade 455 passenger coaches and to buy 55 new coaches.
