Sweden approves a new railway to port of Gävle

Sweden´s government has approved the construction of a new 2-kilometer-long railway track to port of Gävle/Yilport Gävle. The project, expected to start in November, will include new infrastructure that will be electrified.
The new railway connection will save significant time and bring environmental gains because it will no longer be necessary to switch from electric to diesel locomotives. Further efficiency gains are also expected with this new railway as trains from all directions can go straight to the harbor without today’s time-consuming shifting movements in central Gävle.
Located north of Stockholm and next to the industrial Central Sweden region, Port of Gävle is a natural east coast hub for import and export.
