RZD’s official app for mobile phones, RZD Passengers for iOS, has now added the option to pay for tickets using Apple Pay technology. A similar solution has already been implemented on the website of RZD. The payment technology for the site and mobile applications is provided by the VTB Group.
The free mobile app RZD Passengers enables passengers to buy tickets and find out the timetable for long distance trains. The app also enables passengers to buy tickets for bonus points, track their bonus accounts, buy and apply transport cards and store their electronic tickets. Additional options are also available, such as navigation inside railway station buildings, which is currently available at 9 Moscow stations, displaying announcements about timetable changes and frequently asked questions.
Similar applications have already been developed for the other popular mobile platforms Windows Mobile and Android. The total number of users of all such applications exceeds 785,000.
