Serbian rail freight operator Srbija Kargo announced that its profit for the first quarter of 2017 soared to 275 million dinars (2.23 million euros) from 40 million dinars in the first quarter of 2016. There have been no interruptions in the freight railway traffic in the first quarter of 2017 despite the poor weather conditions in Serbia during that period, Srbija Kargo said.
Srbija Kargo was established in August 2015 following the unbundling of railway operator Zeleznice Srbije into a holding company with three subsidiaries under the terms of a Stand-By Agreement with the International Monetary Fund signed in February 2015.
