Warsaw launches Płocka metro station construction

Warsaw public transport company Zarząd Transportu Miejskiego (ZTM) announced that it has start the construction works for Płocka metro station, on Line 2. Płocka station is part of the L2 West extension and is located under Płocka Street near the intersection with Wolska Street. Under this section, there will be other two metro stations: Młynów station, to be located under Górczewska Street on the eastern side of the railway viaduct near Sokołowska and Syreny Streets and Księcia Janusza under Górczewska Street near the intersection with Księcia Janusza Street.
The construction of the West section, 3.4 km, was awarded to Gülermak Ağir Sanayi İnşaat ve Taahhüt, under a PLN 1.48 billion (EUR 270.45 million) and it is expected to be completed in 38 months.
Currently, the L2 extension to north-eastwards from Dworzec Wileński is under construction. The new route will be 3.12 km long. The planned stations include Szwedzka, Targówek and Trocka. At the end of the section, there will be holding tracks and a reversing track. The contract was signed in March 2016 and the works began in April. Under the PLN 1 billion (EUR 251.3 million) contract, Astaldi will have to complete the construction within 38 months.
Warsaw metro system comprises in two lines, with the first segment of L2 opened in 2015.
This January, the European Union approves a EUR 432 million financing for metro Line 2 extensions, including the six stations that will be constructed and the purchase of 13 new trains.
