The new-generation of Coradia Polyvalent trains, built by French company Alstom, are fully adaptable to peri-urban, regional and intercity railway transport, according to the customer’s requirements. The train length may vary from 56 m, 72 m to 110 m. Two types of motorisation are available: electric and diesel-electric (bimodal). The train has no access stairs meaning that it can provide spaces that are 100% accessible for people with reduced mobility. The flexible design of Coradia Polyvalent enables the railway transport operator to choose the interior design according to preferences.
„Alstom’s latest-generation innovative technology is used for Coradia Polyvalent train. The vehicle has passive safety devices such as a shock absorber, while the roof-mounted equipment facilitates maintenance, reduces noise and vibrations”, pointed out Nicolae Dragu, Business Development Manager – Alstom Romania, during the Railway PRO Technology and Services Forum, organised by Club Feroviar, Railway PRO and the Romanian Railway Industry Association (AIF) in Arad, on 5-6 April.
The TrainTracer device helps the train communicate permanently to the maintenance depot about its operating conditions and localisation. Coradia Polyvalent is capable to reach a maximum speed of 160 km/h on both electrified and non-electrified lines.
